Visiting Ardmore Distillery

The Ardmore distillery sits at the highest point of the Northern railway line, 600 feet above sea level. Close to the small village of Kennethmont, the proximity to the railway line allowed founder Adam Teacher to transport materials from Glasgow to this remote corner of Aberdeenshire, helping the distillery flourish. Almost unchanged from the moment he made his dream a reality, the water is still drawn from the naturally rising springs that sit on the 1,500 foot tall Knockandy Hill.

Ardmore Distillery Top Attractions

The Ardmore Distillery is a well-known whisky distillery that can be found in the middle of Scotland's region that is known for manufacturing whisky. Although it does not have a huge visitor centre or extensive tourist facilities like some other distilleries, there are various attractions and activities in the Ardmore area and adjacent regions that whisky fans and tourists can explore. These attractions and activities can be found in both the Ardmore area and nearby regions. When planning a trip to the Ardmore Distillery and the surrounding area, here are some of the top attractions that you shouldn't miss:

To begin your tour of the Ardmore Distillery, you will first pay a visit to the distillery itself. You may still take a guided tour to learn about the whisky-making process and the history of Ardmore's one-of-a-kind peated whisky, even though they may not give as many tours or have as complex of a visitor centre as some other distilleries do.

Whisky Tasting: It goes without saying that we'll be doing some whisky tasting. Participate in a tasting event held at the distillery or visit the taverns and restaurants in the surrounding area to sample a variety of Ardmore whisky expressions.

Glenfiddich Distillery: The Glenfiddich Distillery is one of the most well-known whisky makers in Scotland. It is situated in Dufftown, which is close to Ardmore. They provide in-depth tours as well as tastings, which makes it a perfect addition to your trip to Ardmore.

Speyside Whisky Trail: Ardmore is a town that can be found in the region of Speyside, which is famous for the number of distilleries that can be found there. Visit the well-known distilleries along the Speyside Whisky Trail, which include Glenlivet, Macallan, and Glen Grant, among others.

Whisky Shops You should go to the local whisky shops and other specialised stores in order to purchase one-of-a-kind bottles of Ardmore whisky and other Scotch whiskies to bring back with you as mementos.

Hiking up Ben Rinnes, a mountain in the area, is a great way to take in the stunning scenery of the surrounding region. The stunning vistas that can be enjoyed from the peak make this an ideal location for those who have a passion for the great outdoors.

If you are interested in the history of transport and the railway, you should think about taking a ride on the Keith and Dufftown Railway, which provides magnificent journeys through the scenery of Speyside.

Pubs and Restaurants in the Neighbourhood: Sample the delicacies and experience the warmth of the locals at one of the neighborhood's restaurants or pubs. You can indulge in some of Scotland's most iconic foods and, of course, drink even more whisky.

The stunning and historically significant Ballindalloch Castle can be visited during certain months of the year. It is located not too far from Ardmore. It provides an insight into the rich history as well as the architecture of Scotland.

For those who are interested in golfing, there are a number of golf courses in the area, such as the Dufftown Golf Club and the Ballindalloch Castle Golf Course.

It is important to keep in mind that information such as opening hours, the availability of tours, and other specifics are subject to change. Because of this, it is recommended that you verify the most up-to-date information and organise your visit appropriately. Have fun discovering Ardmore and the rest of the Speyside region during your time there!
